The 9th Annual Strides to Cure Diabetes Walk and Run on Sunday, June 7 in Brookfield reached a milestone—over $12,000 was raised for T1D research! Over 80 runners and 350 walkers turned out for a morning of fitness and fun.

The Brookfield YMCA joined us again this year, bringing lots of information about how small changes in diet and exercise can make huge improvements in one’s health and well-being. Their display “Think about Your Drink” illustrated just how many teaspoons of sugar is in the most popular sodas, teas and energy drinks.

We extend our special thanks to Mark Lyon of the Brookfield Lions Club and to Tammy Lee Dunn, Fairfield JDRF Board member, for their hard work and dedication to this event.

JDRF extends gratitude to this year’s Strides supporters and sponsors: Webster Bank, Colonial Automobile, United Alarm, Woodbridge Running Company, Diamond Electric, Designs & Signs, Matson Financial Advisors, Greystoneracing.net, Nestlé Waters/Poland Spring, Shop Rite, Bevi-Bags, and Kevin and Linda Coyle.

Planning for next year will begin soon. If you would like to join our Strides committee please contact Joan Benz at jbenz@jdrf.org.

We look forward to seeing you again in June 2016!
