Mentor Program

The Mentoring Program assists us in achieving the Outreach Program goals. The objective of JDRF’s Mentoring Program is to provide support and resources to anyone living with type 1 diabetes. This includes newly diagnosed families and adults, long-time diagnosed adults as well as anyone living with the day-to-day challenges of diabetes. It is essential that we provide meaningful support for the sole purpose of helping the type 1 community.

Mentor Supervisor: The mentor supervisor receives information on newly diagnosed families from hospital contacts as well as from ODST handoffs. Assigns a “new” family to a mentor and follows up to guarantee contact has been made. As required, arranges personal delivery (or shipment if necessary) of Bags of Hope to newly diagnosed families. Should continually analyze how well current mentors are performing job responsibilities and continuously attempt to recruit new mentor prospects.
