New Lilly Diabetes resources with the magic of Disney

in

Lilly Diabetes and Disney are pleased to announce new resources for type 1 families that combine the expertise of Lilly Diabetes with the magic of Disney. Now, our first four custom books for children and families with type 1 diabetes are available online. These digital books can be accessed on our www.T1EverydayMagic.com, a new website designed specifically for type 1 families, brought to you by the Lilly Diabetes and Disney collaboration.

Previously only available through a pediatric endocrinologist office, the books can now be enjoyed free of charge on a desktop or tablet. The books explore real-life challenges and success stories children face in managing type 1 diabetes such as participating in sporting activities, birthday parties and other social events. A snapshot of the books includes:

ā€¢ Coco and Goofyā€™s Goofy Dayā€”This book features Coco, a fun-loving young monkey with type 1 diabetes, and her exploits with Mickey Mouse and his friends. An exclusive read-along audio version of the book is also available online

ā€¢ ESPN: Up for the Challengeā€”Explores managing diabetes and everyday activities, including sports, from the perspective of a tween girl

ā€¢ ESPN: Power Forwardā€”Follows the progression of a tween boy through diagnosis of type 1 diabetes and the reestablishment of a normal routine, including after-school activities

ā€¢ The site also features recipes taken from the Disney cookbook, Dishing It Up Disney Style, complete with diabetes-friendly recipes, including carb counts

This is only the beginning! We encourage families to check back to the site regularly, as we continue to roll out the full collection of Lilly Diabetes and Disney books.

While you’re visiting www.T1EverydayMagic.com, you can also learn about additional Lilly Diabetes programs such as our annual donation to the Diabetes Scholars Foundation and support for diabetes summer camps across the nation. You’ll also hear firsthand from Olympic Skier Kris Freeman, who shares his success story with Type 1 diabetes.
