The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, along with other partners, are vigorously pursuing research to cure type 1 diabetes and its complications, with great success.

Thanks to a successful advocacy campaign Congress has extended the Special Statutory Funding Program for Type 1 Diabetes Research through September 30, 2011. This program provides $150 million per year towards diabetes research, treatment, and prevention efforts.
