Since 2004, Roche, the maker of Accu-Chek® products, has been a proud sponsor of one of JDRF’s outreach initiatives, the Bag of Hope. Through Roche’s generous support and collaboration with local chapters, Roche and JDRF distribute more than 15,000 Bags of Hope annually to families of children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. These families face a new and difficult challenge in their lives and Roche provides an outreach that is immensely important to both the parents and children who receive the bag. Roche is also a member of JDRF’s Industry Partner Advisory Panel, a group whose mission is to facilitate and further relationships with diabetes-related industry partners in areas of mutual interest.

Roche has underwritten JDRF’s Bag of Hope Program to provide a free resource of information and support to families with children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Bag of Hope is filled with relevant T1D educational materials, some intended to communicate directly with the child and some geared toward adult caregivers, including (but not limited to): Rufus, the Bear with Diabetes, Rufus Comes Home, a book, A First Book for Understanding Diabetes, other reference books, a DVD, and an Accu-Chek® Aviva Compact Blood-Glucose Meter.
