2013 marks Advance Auto Parts’ 20th year of support for JDRF in its effort to find life-changing treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). To date, Advance Auto Parts has raised more than $35 million for JDRF, including a record-breaking campaign in 2011 that raised more than $5 million for T1D research. With more than 3,900 locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, Advance Auto Parts team members are tireless in their efforts to give back to the communities in which they live, work, and play.
Advance Auto Parts raises the bulk of its fundraising dollars with a scanable sneaker campaign held throughout the United States and Puerto Rico in more than 3,900 Advance Auto Parts locations. The sneakers sell in increments of $1, $5, $25, and $50, and JDRF sneakers are proudly displayed throughout each location. The 2013 campaign took place from August 22 to October 5.
Advance Auto Parts continually enhances this annual JDRF campaign with new elements to drive fundraising and awareness of the JDRF mission. One such element of innovation was the addition in 2009 of the now annual Vendor Golf Tournament, which leverages automotive-industry partners in support of JDRF and one other charity.
Advance Auto Parts offers opportunities for employee engagement with vacation-day purchases, raising more than $300,000; raffles; sample/merchandise sales; and new store opening contributions to the store manager’s charity of choice. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in corporate Walk teams for their local JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
