Thank Congress for $150 million renewal of type 1 diabetes research funding
JDRF is pleased to report that Congress has approved a one-year renewal of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP). SDP funding has helped realize some of the most groundbreaking advances in type 1 diabetes (T1D) research possible. JDRF advocates have played an integral role in securing this renewal, which has improved the lives and health of millions of Americans affected by diabetes.
- Provides $150 million a year for T1D research to the National Institutes of Health
- Accounts for roughly 35 percent of all federal funding for T1D research
- Funds clinical trials and research that will slow down or stop entirely without annual renewal
JDRF and other private funders of research canāt do it alone. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries. But it is not enough. We need this critical support from the federal government to ensure that promising T1D clinical trials doesnāt slow down or stop altogether.
JDRF advocates have come through again and again. When it mattered most, you urged your Members of Congress to sign the SDP support letter. Now, please join us again by thanking your legislators for supporting this crucial initiative. To help you out, we have messages that are ready to go in our Letter Writing Center!

Thank you for becoming a JDRF Advocate and turning Type One into Type None.
