In November 2012, Food Network aired its All-Star Family Cook-Off, in which four celebrity chefs, including Anne Burrell, Alex Guarnaschelli, Robert Irvine, and Geoffrey Zakarian, battled it out alongside their family members to win $10,000 for their charity of choice. Chef Anne Burrell and sister Jane Burrell-Uzcategui graciously participated in the competition on behalf of JDRF in honor of their nephew, Luke.
The lighthearted competition was hosted by Bobby Deen and required each team to create a number of dishes together. Each round brought a new challenge to the families, who were judged on their food, teamwork, adaptability, and communication. Teams were eliminated round by round until only Chef Anne Burrell and her sister Jane were left standing. The sisters donated their $10,000 prize to JDRF.
JDRF is grateful to them as well as the Food Network for raising awareness for JDRF and the need to fund type 1 diabetes research. Photo courtesy of Food Network.
