Ford Auctions Collector’s Mustang, Raises $200K for JDRF

Ford Auction

Ford Motor Company put the pedal to the metal for JDRF on January 19, 2013, when it auctioned a one-of-a-kind 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 “Cobra” at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, AZ. The winning bid was $200,000.

The special car was built by Ford as a tribute to the late Carroll Shelby, an automotive designer and racing driver best known for his work with the Cobra series of Mustangs. Mr. Shelby passed away in May 2012. The car packs more than 850 horsepower, generated by a Ford Racing super-charged 5.8-liter V8 engine. After its unveiling at the 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in August, the unique car toured auto-lover’s events across the country, before being parked on the auction block at Barrett-Jackson for JDRF. Ford is a JDRF Elite Principal Partner.
