JDRF formed an innovative new partnership with the Israel Science Foundation to pursue potential avenues to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. The Israel Science Foundation is a prominent research organization based in Israel that funds basic research.
The partnership between JDRF and the Israel Science Foundation will provide funding for research to explore the immune system attack that causes type 1 diabetes and the regeneration or replacement of the insulin-producing beta cells targeted and destroyed by this autoimmune response. JDRF has been a long-time supporter of type 1 diabetes research in Israel and is building on the research infrastructure that the foundation has created for type 1 diabetes over the last decade. The Israel Science Foundation project is part of JDRF Israel, an affiliate of JDRF established in 1981 to promote scientific advancements.
